I must start by saying that I'm not a big sushi or sashimi fan, but I do enjoy them occasionally. I visited Atari-ya Sushi Bar three times and I must say, I had a lot of fun. The ambiance is rather boorish, but simple and pleasant. The food is fresh and tasty; I had the chawanmushi, the chicken teriaky and some assorted sushi, which was quite good. Le Pied a Terre impresses through an extremely elegant decor, with dark, deep colours dominating. The food was perfect and the service was very friendly and accommodating. I had the best roasted rib of veal I ever had in my life, though (of course) expect spending a considerable sum of money.... read more...

In my opinion, great food is always romantic! Le Gavroche seems to be a rather old fashioned restaurant, but provides its customers with incredible food and a classic ambiance (though maybe somewhat boorish in my opinion). The filet de boeuf grillé was perfectly cooked and juicy and the wine was exquisite. Expect high prices and delicious food.... read more...

I visited the Ledbury because I have heard of the famous Brett Graham, an Australian born chef that made a name for himself in the United Kingdom. I must say, the restaurant did not disappoint. The broth of grilled onions and the pigeon leg confit were perfectly cooked, the wine was incredible and the atmosphere was incredibly romantic. If you are willing to spend a bit of money, then the Ledbury is definitely appropriate for a beautiful night out.... read more...

The Greenhouse is a very special restaurant. It has been awarded one Micheline star and you can definitely expect excellent quality when it comes to both the service and the food. I tried the pigeon and it was incredible; the dessert (manjari chocolate) was also michelin star worthy. There is a wide variety of vegetarian options for those who are so inclined.... read more...

The Veg Box is very interesting as vegetarian restaurants go. It almost has a medieval feel to it, but instead of a giant pork roast, you can enjoy some lovely parsnip and fresh ginger soup or red lentil and squash with brown rice. PS: there are a lot of gluten-free options.... read more...

A very simple coffeehouse with reasonable prices and plenty of vegetarian options. the service is a bit slow, but quite friendly. Worth giving a try if you are in Bristol and want to go for something fresh and light.... read more...
